Number of potential projects between UK, Turkmenistan being discussed

There are a number of potential projects between the UK and Turkmenistan under discussion, the UK Department for International Trade told Trend.

The department added that the UK imports a range of goods from Turkmenistan

The top 5 goods imported to the UK from Turkmenistan in the four quarters of 2019 to the end of 1Q2020 were: Metal ores & scrap (26.0 percent of all UK goods imported from Turkmenistan), Inorganic chemicals (15.0 percent), Used Aircraft (11.5 percent), Used Ships (8.2 percent), Used Scientific instruments (intermediate) (5.8 percent), Department for International Trade added.

“The UK and Turkmenistan enjoy a strong trading relationship and British companies and experts have been in the market since the early years of Turkmenistan’s independence,” noted the department.

Earlier, a foreign office spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UK told Trend that Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom have established new ties in sectors such as the creative economy.

The spokesperson pointed out that the new ties were established despite the global challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Generally, the UK continues to work with Turkmenistan in a number of areas such as energy, education, agriculture, and finance.
