In total 5,458 tons of hazelnuts have already been exported from Georgia as of October 4, which is 2,092 tons more than in the same period of 2019, Trend reports via Georgian media.
The European Union is the largest importer of Georgian nuts: Germany ( 1,747.4 tons), Italy ( 922.1 tons), Czech Republic (338 tons), Spain (165), Poland (192), Lithuania (160.7), Austria (22), Estonia (22), Latvia (21), France (147) and Greece (74.7 tons).
Georgian nuts are also exported to Russia (354 tons), Ukraine (94.4), Mexico (53), Brazil (88), Britain (22), Belarus (124) and Armenia (325.7), Bulgaria (154.2), Canada (45), Montenegro (22 tons) and US (19 tons).
Up to 30 companies are engaged in exporting Georgian nuts.
Ministry of Agriculture predicts the harvest of 50,000 tons of nuts in 2020.
