Turkmenistan to ink new contracts for agricultural equipment purchase

Turkmenistan will sign a contract with foreign companies for the purchase of spare parts, lubricants and consumables for row tractors and cultivators, as well as other agricultural equipment, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The contracts will be concluded in accordance with the decree of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, allowing the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of the country to conclude contracts with foreign companies.

Turkmenistan is using foreign equipment in its agricultural sector, and in particular, the equipment provided by US companies such as John Deere Walldorf GmbH & Co.KG and Claas. Thus, earlier John Deere company delivered more cotton harvesting machines to Turkmenistan.

In August last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental protection of Turkmenistan and John Deere Walldorf GmbH & Co.KG signed a memorandum for the development of telematic digitalization in the country's agro-industrial sector.

According to the document, in the next few years, John Deere and Claas will deliver brands special equipment for Turkmenistan.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, and fruits.
