Romania increases imports of Azerbaijani products

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 11

The volume of exports from Azerbaijan to Romania amounted to $69.169 million from January through August 2020, against $56.807 million a year earlier, Trend reports referring to the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

"The growth of exports relative to the same period last year amounted to 21.7 percent. Romania's share in the total export of Azerbaijan increased from 0.42 to 0.7 percent," the message says.

As reported, imports of Romanian products to Azerbaijan on an annualized basis decreased from $37.924 million to $37.04 million. The share of Romania in the total imports of Azerbaijan amounted to 0.55 percent of the total volume, against 0.4 percent in the same period last year.

In January-August 2020, the volume of foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and Romania amounted to $106.2 million.

Thus, the balance of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Romania remained positive over the reporting period, amounting to $32.12 million.

The economic relations between Romania and Azerbaijan are developing rapidly. Romania expressed its intention to participate in the export of Azerbaijani oil to European markets. The countries cooperate in various regional projects, including the TRACECA program. Azerbaijan and Romania signed more than 43 documents in various fields.

In general, in January-August 2020, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $6.57 billion, which is 27.6 percent less than the same indicator of 2019.

The balance of foreign trade turnover on an annualized basis decreased by 22.9 percent, nevertheless, it remained positive, amounting to $3.189 billion.
