More inactive agriculture units resume work in Tehran

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.15

A total of 271 agriculture units in Tehran that were inactive or semi-active have resumed production in the past 18 months, said deputy in Agriculture Organization in Tehran Province Mostafa Jalili, Trend reports via IRNA.

"About 28 inactive and semi-active units in agriculture sector have resumed work in Tehran province from the start of the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020)," said Jalili.

"During th last Iranian year (started March 21,2019) a total of 243 production and service units in agriculture sector have started working in Tehran Province," he said.

"The following units are mostly active in livestock and processing industries that would increase production volume in the Tehran Province," he added.

"It is expected that more inactive or semi-active units would be active in Tehran Province by the end of current Iranian year(started March 20,2020) to increase agricultural products," he said.

"The government has assigned $44 million to support the agriculture sector in Tehran Province in form of advances that have been paid to 163 farming projects," he said.

There are 187,000 hectares of active agricultural lands in Tehran Province and more than 50,000 people are working on these lands. The agricultural products of the province include apple, mushroom, cherry, peach and flowers.
