Georgia has exported 250 tons of persimmons to foreign markets, Trend reports via the Agriculture Ministry of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
Persimmon exports are growing to Ukraine too, where the products are delivered from Batumi Seaport by ship Kaunas twice a week.
This year farmers expect to pick 2,100 tons of persimmons.
Meanwhile, export of persimmons from Georgia in monetary terms amounted to $2.1 million in October 2019. This indicator exceeds the total indicator of persimmon exports for the whole of 2018, which amounted to $1.9 million.
For the first 10 months of 2019, persimmons $2.3 million were exported. Persimmon exports increased both in monetary terms and in terms of weight. During the 2018, 4,081 tons of persimmons were exported from Georgia, while in 10 months of 2019 – 4,591 tons.
Reportedly, the main suppliers of persimmons to the Georgian market are traditionally the regions of Kakheti (Eastern Georgia), Imereti and Samegrelo (Western Georgia) and Adjara.
