Georgia and Turkey have an excellent level of cooperation and dialogue in the field of economics, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Tbilisi told Trend.
"Even during the pandemic, the Turkish business people are continuing their investments and trade business without any obstacles," the embassy said.
However, as the embassy noted, the current level of trade and investments between Georgia and Turkey are not reflecting the potential.
"Economic relations in the fields of tourism, construction, logistics, and infrastructure could be developed more," the embassy noted.
According to the source, Turkish Foreign Direct Investment in Georgia during the January-June 2020 period is $44.2 million.
Turkey ranked first in Georgia’s commodity circulation.
From January through September 2020, total imports from Turkey to Georgia amounted to $981.5 million. In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $142.8 million to Turkey. The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with Turkey in the reporting period exceeded $1.1 billion, which is 13.8 percent of Georgia's total trade turnover.
