Georgia sees increase in hazelnuts export

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26

Some 7,684 tons of hazelnuts worth $41.6 million were exported from Georgia from August 1 to October 25, 2020, Trend reports via Georgian media.

The volume of exports of hazelnuts for the specified period increased by 2,252 tons (41 percent) compared to the same period in 2019, and the value of exports increased by $14.3 million (52 percent).

Georgian hazelnuts are mainly exported to EU markets, namely Germany (2,233 tons), Italy (1,507 tons), Czech Republic (470 tons), Poland (298 tons), Bulgaria (220 tons), Spain (209 tons), France (191 tons), Lithuania (203 tons), Greece (97 tons), Estonia (88 tons), Latvia (62 tons), Slovakia (37 tons), Austria (22 tons) and Croatia (10 tons).

Georgian hazelnuts are also exported to countries such as Russia (397 tons), Belarus (175 tons), Ukraine (148 tons), Algeria (148 tons), Brazil (136 tons), Canada (114 tons), Saudi Arabia (74 tons), Mexico (53 tons), Iraq (24 tons), Great Britain (22 tons), US (19 tons) and others.
