Russia's Bryansk Machine-Building Plant, Turkmenistan discuss terms of locomotives delivery

Bryansk Machine-Building Plant, which is part of Russia’s Transmashholding company, has signed a contract with Turkmenistan for the supply of locomotives and currently, this project is under implementation, the parties are discussing the terms of delivery, Alexey Balanov, chief specialist of the directorate for external relations and corporate communications of Transmashholding told Trend.

Balanov noted that at this stage, the details of the contract are still unclear, but delivery is planned for 2021.

Speaking about the possible impact of the coronavirus on deliveries, Balanov said that the company is working in full mode and fulfills all obligations to customers.

"At the moment, we do not expect any significant impact of the coronavirus on the project implementation," he stressed, adding that the work is organized in accordance with the recommendations of state authorities to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infection, and employees are fully provided with personal protective equipment.

As reported, Turkmen Demiryollary (Railways) Open Joint-Stock Company will purchase 2 units of freight and passenger locomotives produced by Russia’s Transmashholding company.

A corresponding contract was signed between Demiryollary and the Russian locomotive manufacturers that are part of the Transmashholding holding - the Kolomna Locomotive Works and Bryansk Machine-Building Plant.

The contract was signed with Kolomna Locomotive Works for the supply of one unit of the TEP70BS diesel locomotive and with Bryansk Machine-Building Plant for the supply of one unit of the 2TE25K mainline diesel locomotive.
