Rice harvesting underway in Turkmenistan’ Dashoguz region

New rice crop is being harvested in the Saparmurat Turkmenbashi district of Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz, Trend reports with reference to the Neutral Turkmenistan electronic newspaper.

Rice is grown on 80,000 hectares of land throughout the Dashoguz region. In particular, rice varieties Nukus-2, Munbashi and Alenga were planted.

Agriculture sector in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agroecological characteristics of the country's regions.

Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
