Iran talks agricultural exports to Iraq despite restrictions

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct. 30

Trend:

The Iraqi government imposes a series of import restrictions on agricultural products every year due to the harvest season, Mahmoud Bazari, director-general of TPO's Export Coordination Office for agro crops and processing industry products said.

“The application of such restrictions is to support domestic production, and are usually temporary,” Mahmoud Bazari, director-general of TPO's Export Coordination Office for crops and processing industry products said, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

He went on to say that the application of such restrictions does not affect our trade.

"Currently, the export of Iranian agricultural products to Iraq is very good," Bazari said.

“Iranian exporters are familiar with the export situation to Iraq in recent years,” he said. “When this country suffers from a shortage of products, it removes these restrictions and therefore the export conditions for our exporters and traders will be provided.”
