Samegrelo-based NADI Group Company of Georgia started snail meat exports to Italy in autumn 2019, Trend reports via Georgian media.
As noted by Merab Nadaraia, one of the founders of the company, 45 tons of meat will be exported to Italy this year.
The company owns a snail farm on 6 hectares, where 50 tons of snails are produced a year.
One kilogram of snail meat on the European market costs 3-5 euros.
NADI Group also plans to manufacture snail slime for pharmaceutical and makeup products. As part of the United Agro Project, NADI Group opened a modern-standard snail farm in the village of Akhali Khibula, Khobi Municipality in 2019.
The beneficiary obtained a preferential agro loan of 1.26 million lari ($390,763). The farm produces 50 tons of snail meat a year.
