Iran's renewable energies lead to reduction in fossil fuel emission

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.6

Trend:

The latest statistics released by Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization indicate consumption of renewable energies in Iran has prevented the production of 3.6 million tons of greenhouse gas from September 22 to October 21.

The country's renewable energy sector has generated 5.4 billion kilowatt energy per hour in this duration and reduced fossil fuel consumption by 1.5 million tons, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Renewable energy consumption from September 22 to October 21 has also reduced water consumption by 1,203 million liters water, the power production capacity of renewable power plants during this period has reached 838.19 megawatts, solar energy has shared 47 percent of power production and produced 405,56 megawatt.

Wind power plants have shared 36 percent of energy production and produced 302.82-megawatt energy while small water power plants shared 13 percent of power production by generating 105,65-megawatt energy.

The inclination toward renewable energies has increased in Iran in recent years. Director-General of Iranian Renewable Energy Organization, Ali Shabnavard said recently that 28 renewable energy power plants will be operational by the end of the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020).

"There are currently 54 companies are constructing renewable energy power plants including solar and wind energy and hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 229.39 megawatts," said Ali Shabnavard.

"The following power plants would annually inject 493,5-kilowatt power per hour to a national power network that is equal to 140 million cubic meters of fossil fuel and reduce 109 million liters of water, that would reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 318,000 tons in the process of country's national electricity production," he added.
