Iran hopes for more mutual agreements with China

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.11

Iran is waiting for China's review to reach mutual opinion over the 25-year agreement, said the deputy foreign minister.

"We have informed China of our latest views and waiting for their response, we hope to reach a mutual agreement in near future that would prepare the document to be signed," said Abbas Araghchi, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

In terms of Iran and China 25 years agreement, nothing new has happened and the Chinese side is reviewing the document. The document has been reviewed by Iran and China several times, they inform us about their reviews and we have commented on them," he said.

"The following document would clear the path for Iran and China's economic activities in the next 25 years and seek to remove obstacles and profit from its interests," he said.

"Long term agreements are not easy to negotiate and countries should evaluate their own national interest, our friends in China are reviewing the issues carefully and precisely," he said.

The Iran-China 25-year Cooperation Program or Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries drafted on 24th June 2020. The cooperation would be a ground for Iran and China’s participation in basic projects and development of infrastructure, including the Belt and Road initiative, and an opportunity to attract investment in various economic fields, including industry, tourism, information technology, and communication.

The Iranian official has also indicated the country seeks to improve economic ties in other countries.

"All the Iranian embassies have commercial attaché and economic experts, in current sanction situation our embassies first mission is the economic mission, confronting sanctions and ways to evade obstacles that caused by the US sanctions," he said.
