Kazakhstan increases grain exports to Central Asian countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 16

Kazakhstan has exported 2.7 million tons of cereals and flour in grain equivalent over four-month of the 2020-2021 marketing year (July 2020 till June 2021), which is compared to 2.6 million indicating an increase by 4 percent year-on-year, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

The exported volume includes 1.9 million tons of wheat and 701,000 tons of flour in grain equivalent which is also compared to 1.6 million tons of wheat and 628,000 tons of flour over the same period last year.

The export volume of other types of grain (barley, oats, corn, rice, buckwheat, millet, etc.) was exported in the volume of 98,000 tons, including 76,000 tons of barley exported to Iran.

The major part of wheat and wheat flour were exported to countries of Central Asia, including 1.2 million tons to Uzbekistan, 406,000 tons of Tajikistan, 38,000 tons to Kyrgyzstan, and 11,000 tons to Turkmenistan. Wheat and wheat flour export to Afghanistan amounted to 593,000 tons, to China to 194,000 tons. Grain export from Kazakhstan to Russia also stood at 166,000 tons.

Furthermore, transit grain and flour in grain equivalent amounted to 160,000 tons during the reporting period.
