Expanding the capacity of transit roads and developing the rail network are the main goals of Iran's government,” Mohammad Eslami said during the International Conference of the Eurasian Economic Union and the geopolitical role of free zones in the development of regional relations in Anzali port on Tuesday, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He went on to say that the connection of Qazvin-Rasht railway to Anzali port and to Astara, are among these important railway projects of Iran.

He expressed hope that the connection of the Caspian port to the railway would be operational during President Rouhani`s administration (end on June 2021).

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development stated that the Rasht-Astara railway project is being implemented according to schedule.

“Connection of the Iranian railway to the Afghan railway network and the connection of Chabahar to Zahedan via the railway are underway and on the verge of opening,” said Eslami.
