Georgia sees increase in Import Price Index

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 20

The Import Price Index (MPI) increased by 0.1 percent in October 2020 compared to the previous month in Georgia, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

As reported, compared to October 2019 the index increased by 3.3 percent.

Compared to October 2019 the prices were 4.4 percent higher for manufactured products, while for products from mining and quarrying a price decrease of 8.8 percent was registered. With regard to electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, the prices were 9.2 percent higher.

In October 2020 the Export Price Index (XPI) increased by 1.5 percent compared to the previous month.

There was a 1.6 percent increase in the prices of manufactured products.

Compared to October 2019 the XPI increased by 11.4 percent. In the mentioned period prices increased for manufactured products by 7.7 percent and for products from mining and quarrying by 36.6 percent.
