Rate of urea production doubled in Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 25

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

The rate of production of urea manufactured at the Garabogazkarbamid plant in Turkmenistan’s Balkan region Turkmenistan has doubled, Trend reports with reference to “Turkmenistan: Zolotoy Vek” (Turkmenistan: Golden Age) newspaper.

The plant produced about 900,000 tons of urea within ten months of this year.

Shipment of products from the plant is carried out in an accelerated way through a special berth, to which urea is fed by a conveyor, which facilitates and reduces the cost of sending it by water. The geographical location of the company on the Caspian coast allows it to bring its products to world markets through both sea and railway connections.

Since its opening, the company has already produced 1.4 million tons of concentrated nitrogen fertilizers, which were purchased by agricultural producers in Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, Spain, and other countries.

The project to build a gas chemical complex worth $1.5 billion in the city of Garabogaz in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan was implemented by Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan) and Gap Inşaat (Turkey).

This complex is designed to produce 1.1 million tons of urea per year. The technology of the Danish Haldor Topsoe AS company, the US UOP company, the Italian Saipem company, and the Dutch Uhde Fertilizer Technology company were used in the project.

With the commissioning of the new facility, the annual volume of nitrogen fertilizers produced in the country exceeded two million tons. About one-third of these products are supplied to the domestic market, the rest is sent for export.
