1 billion Euros of goods were exported from Iran capital in the first six months of the current Iranian year(started on March 20), which shows an increase of 18 percent compared to the same period last year, the CEO of Tehran Industrial Towns Company said.
"The increase in the quality of domestic products and their low cost compared to the foreign sample has led to an increase in exports," Saber Parnian said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Parnian went on to say that the US sanctions became an opportunity for the country's production.
"Domestic Producers and industrial units were able to produce more than 2,500 items that were restricted or banned from importing the country in the past two years," he said. "In addition to meeting the domestic needs, these items were exported to the markets of 15 neighboring countries and some European countries."
"So far, none of the industrial factories have been closed due to the lack of raw materials," he said adding that these factories met their needs by circumventing sanctions and localizing the production of raw materials.
He said that the consumption of electricity and water in industrial towns has also increased this year compared to last year, which indicates an increase in production.
"Knowledge-based companies are growing rapidly," said Parnian.
Regarding the impact of foreign currency fluctuations on production, he said that "foreign exchange fluctuations affect raw material costs.
"A decision was made last week in the cabinet of ministers in this regard," he announced.
Parnian expressed hope that a large part of the producers' problems would be solved by the decisions taken by the government.
According to IRNA, about 18,000 industrial units are active in Tehran province and 2 percent of the total country's industries are located in the industrial towns of this province.
