Kazakhstan's export volumes to China surge despite COVID-19

The value of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China amounted to $11.3 billion over the first nine months of 2020, compared to $10.8 billion during the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The share of China in the total value of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover stood at 18 percent during the reporting period, compared to 15 percent during the same period of 2019.

Kazakhstan’s export to China amounted to $7.04 billion over the period from January through Sept. 2020, compared to $5.9 billion during the same period of 2019.

China’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s export amounted to 19.9 percent during the reporting period of 2020 compared to 13.9 percent during the same period of 2019.

In turn, Kazakhstan’s imports from China amounted to nearly $4.2 billion over the reporting period, compared to $4.8 billion during the same period of 2019.

China’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s imports amounted to 15.5 percent during the reporting period of 2020 compared to 16.6 percent during the same period of 2019.

The total volume of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover amounted to $62.8 million over the period from January through Sept. 2020 which indicates a decrease from $72.09 million during the same period of 2019.

Kazakhstan’s export amounted to $35.3 million during the reporting period of 2020 ($43.1 million in the same period of 2019), whereas imports amounted to $27.4 million ($28.9 million in 2019).

During the reporting period, the main articles of Kazakhstan and China trade turnover were food products, agricultural products, as well as products of the chemical industry.
