Iran's parliament approves plan to lift sanctions

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec.1

Trend:

The Iranian parliament has approved the general strategic plan to lift sanctions and protecting the interests of the Iranian nation by 251 votes.

"The plan was previously referred to national security commission in the parliament and reviewed and approved by officials of executive organizations and experts of the parliament research center," said a spokesperson of national security and foreign policy commission, Trend reports citing Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency (ICANA).

"The plan follows several targets, including opening locks on the country's nuclear industry to follow the path of martyrs like Fakhrizadeh and Shahriar and individuals that sacrificed their lives for the country's development," said Abulfazl Amouie.

"The other target is to confront sanctions imposed by western countries, the sanction against Iran led to heavy costs and destroyed people's security and killed nuclear scientists," he noted.

"We believe by focusing on improving the nuclear program and creating a limitation on inspections we could stand against sanctions since the balance in the previous agreement has been lost and there are questions about inspections from nuclear sites that should be answered therefore the security commission is discussing plans and experts views, " he added.

According to this plan the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran is obligated to annually produce and store at least 120 kilograms of 20 percent enriched uranium two months after approval of the law, and execute an operation to install, inject gas, enrichment and storage of enriched uranium with at least 1,000 IR-2m machines in the underground section of Natanz atomic facility in three months.
