The Iranian government would add 20,000-megawatt power production capacity to the country's power plants, said Ministry of Energy.

"While we are in economic war annual power production capacity of power plants increased by 40 percent," said Reza Ardakanian, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Today 25 projects in power industry-valued $1.4 billion in three provinces of Razavi Khorasan, Sistan and Balouchestan and Khuzestan have inaugurated. It has been predicted that the government would add 20,000-megawatt power plants production capacity to current 62,000 megawatts from 2013 until mid-2021," he said.

"The inaugurated power plants in current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) have the production capacity of 1,648 megawatts, it is expected that by the end of current Iranian year about 1,371 megawatts would add to power production capacity that would lead to 3,020 megawatts," he added.

"In renewable power plants including solar, wind and water it is expected that from 2013 until mid-2021 about 3,025 megawatts would be added to power plants production capacitiesThese figures indicate that the renewable plants had average 60 percent increase of production capacity annually," Ardakanian noted.

"So far from promised 250 projects in current Iranian yea, 140 projects were operated and today 25 new projects inaugurated. In addition to government sources being used in the water sector, this government succeeded to attract €6.7 billion and $14 billion investment from the private sector and foreign finances," he pointed out.

Ardakanian went on to say that the following 25 projects include wind turbine located in Milnader at Sistan and Balouchestan, that could provide electricity to 5,000 household users.

"The 30,000-megawatt production capacity of wind energy in this region could develop domestic capacities in power industry while we would start a joint discussion with Afghanistan about wind tunnel in Khaf and its energy advantages. There is also a plan to install 25 turbines in Sistan regions with a production capacity of 50 megawatts," he stated.

Iranian President has inaugurated five solar power plants and four power distribution line projects in Khuzestan Province on Thursday via video conference.
