By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan is working to increase the number of livestock, create a sufficient feed base, and generally develop the livestock sector, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

This was said during the working meeting of Turkmenistan.

The necessary work is also being carried out in the country to process, store and supply domestic consumers with agricultural products produced in the country.

In general, work is underway to intensify the development of the agricultural industry, further strengthen its material and technical base, and systematically introduce world best practices and the latest scientific achievements into production.

In particular, within the framework of the program of the president of Turkmenistan on socio-economic development of the country for 2019-2025 and other state programs, appropriate steps are being taken to build additional and expand existing reservoirs, irrigate trees by drip method, and improve the land reclamation condition.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agroecological characteristics of the country's regions.

Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
