Azerbaijan's import of non-oil products declines

Imports of the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan decreased by 11 percent in the first nine months of 2020 and amounted to $6.1 billion, Trend reports citing the reporting data of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the data, in the structure of imports, which was $7.4 billion, the decrease compared to the same period of 2019 amounted to 8.7 percent, consumer goods accounted for $3.2 billion, including $1.1 million – food products.

The import of equipment and special goods to Azerbaijan in the reporting period amounted to $0.6 billion, or 7.6 percent of all imports, the report said.

In the structure of non-oil imports, imports of oil increased by 29.8 percent, vegetable products by 14.2 percent, cars by 5.5 percent, and paper products by 2.5 percent.

The volume of Azerbaijan's exports in the oil and gas sector in the first nine months of this year decreased by 37.5 percent, to $8.5 billion.

From January through September 2020, the total deficit of the balance of payments of Azerbaijan amounted to $1.8 billion.
