Georgian Walnut company eyes to test organic production in 2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 25

Georgian Walnut company eyes to test organic production in 2021, the Head of the company Davit Bukhnikashvili told Trend.

"We have an 85-hectare orchard. Our full production will be about 500,000 tons a year in the future," he noted.

According to him, it is starting to test organic production in 2021.

"In the future, we will convert our whole orchard in Organic production," Bukhnikashvil noted.

Georgian Walnuts company plans to maintain eco-friendly production, which means not using herbicides in walnut orchards anymore. Currently, the company already owns walnut orchards in the region of Sagarejo. For January 2021, the total area of walnut orchards will be 150 hectares.

Walnuts employ 20 people, and additionally, up to 40 locals are employed during the period of spring and summer. The total price of the investment is 12 million lari ($3.6 million), which is implemented together with German and Australian partners.

Walnuts team consists of both international and Georgian entrepreneurs from a variety of backgrounds including agriculture, investment, law, and corporate finance.
