Number of enterprises with foreign direct investment in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent increases

The largest number of enterprises with foreign direct investment in Uzbekistan as of January 2021 fell on Tashkent city, amounting to 6,918 enterprises, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

It is followed by the Tashkent region with a significantly fewer number of enterprises with direct investment – 1,318.

At the same time, enterprises with foreign direct investment operating in Samarkand region amounted to 580 enterprises, in Fergana region – 455, in Surkhandarya region – 425, in Andijan region – 339, in Bukhara region – 298, in Namangan region – 260, in Navoi region – 238, in Kashkadarya region – 220, in Jizzakh region – 202, in Syrdarya region – 189, in Khorezm region – 175 and 164 enterprises in the Karakalpakstan Republic.

In total, the number of enterprises with foreign direct investment in Uzbekistan for the reported period amounted to 11,781, which is 1,399 more than in the same period last year.

According to the committee, 5,672 enterprises are joint ventures, and the rest are owned by foreign founders.

It was also reported that the leading sectors in terms of the number of enterprises with the foreign direct investment are industry (3,943), trade (3,113), construction (955), agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (673), housing and food services (498).

In addition, foreign investment was directed towards transportation and storage (316), information and communication (315), and health and social services (169).
