Iranian gov't provides data on guaranteed wheat purchases

Director-General of Internal Purchasing Coordination of Iran`s Government Trading Company (GTC), announced that the guaranteed purchase of wheat in the current Iranian year (started on March 20, 2020) was reduced in 12 provinces and increased in 19 provinces.

Morteza Saadatikia announced a 7 percent increase in guaranteed wheat purchases in the current Iranian year compared to last year, Trend reports citing Mehr NewsAgency.

“About 51 percent of the total guaranteed wheat purchases were made from Khuzestan, Fars, Golestan, Kurdistan, and Kermanshah provinces,” the GTC official Morteza Saadatikia said.

Saadatikia declared Khuzestan with 1.2 million tons, Fars with 911,000 tons, Golestan with 820,000 tons, Kurdistan with 746,000 tons, and Kermanshah with 519,000 tons as the leading provinces in guaranteed purchased wheat.

He went on to say that the total value of the guaranteed purchase of wheat reached more than $409 billion.

“The guaranteed purchase volume of wheat in the current Iranian year is more than 8.2 million tons,” he said.
