Trend:

Iran has exported nearly 80,000 tons of goods via its Bazargan border since June after reopening of the border, said the Director General of Bazargan border customs.

"A total of 79,639 tons of goods were exported via the Bazargan border since the reopening of the border in June until today," said Mojtaba Bazgir, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"By reopening of the Bazargan border we will witness the boom in foreign trade," he said.

"While the weight of export has declined by 39 percent in this period the value of export has increased by 31 percent compare to same time last Iranian year (started March 21,2021)," he said.

"The major export goods were petrochemical products, plants and agricultural products, stone and its processed products, ceramics and glass objects, scrap metal, steel and textile," he said.

"The export via other customs check points in the country included mechanical tools, machineries, electronics, cast iron artifacts, steel, plastic material, paint concentrate, synthetic fibers, aluminum and rubber," he said.

"Iran annually transit more than $26 billion worth of goods via Bazargan border and reopening of land borders was necessary," said Managing Director of Maku Free Zone Mohammad Reza Abdolrahimi.

"Prior to COVID-19 about 1,000 trucks transited goods daily through border and hopefully by opening borders the number would increase to 1,500 to 2,000 trucks per day," said Abdolrahimi.

"The location of Bazargan border in the Maku Free Zone seriously affects both trade and passenger transportation," he said.

Bazargan customs is located in Maku counties near Turkey and Azerbaijan.
