Value of Kazakhstan's foreign international reserves increases

The gross international reserves of Kazakhstan’s National Bank amounted to $35.5 billion in Jan. 2021, bank’s preliminary data said, Trend reports with reference to the National Bank.

According to the data, the value of the country’s international reserves decreased by 0.12 percent compared to Dec. 2020 and increased by 22.92 percent more than as of the end of 2019.

“International reserves overall, i.e. including the foreign currency denominated assets of the National Fund ($57.7 billion) equaled $93.2 billion as at the end of Jan. 2021,” the report said.

Net foreign exchange reserves of Kazakhstan also decreased by 0.1 percent in a month (increase by 23.24 percent compared to December 2019), and equaled $35.09 billion.

In turn, the assets in freely convertible currency have increased by 2.2 percent compared to Dec. 2020 and increased by 22.22 percent compared to Dec. 2019, which amounted to $12.3 billion.

The country’s assets in gold amounted to $23.2 billion in Jan. 2021, which is 1.31 percent less than in Dec. 2020 and 23.3 percent more than as of the end of 2019.
