Iran's trade with Eurasia growing

Iran's trade with Eurasia during the first ten months of the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) had a 104-percent growth due to trade agreement, said Iran Customs Administration spokesman Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports via Mehr News Agency.

"The trade volume between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and Iran during this period was 7.2 million tons, valued at $2.7 billion," said Latifi.

"From this figure, 5.3 million tons of goods were traded between Iran and Russia that included 90 percent of Iran's import from this country as part of trade with the EEU while 49 percent of Iran's export to EEU was destined for Russia," he said.

"Iran's trade with Kazakhstan was 762,900 tons, valued at $268.4 million, Iran's trade with Belarus was 15,000 tons valued at $39.9 million," he said.

"Iran's major export commodity to Eurasia was liquid gas, oil and petrochemical products, fruit, vegetable and nuts that were mostly included pistachio, apple, kiwi and watermelon," he said.

"Russia was the main destination for Iran's export to the EEU, and the country has exported 809,490 tons valued $386.8 million, while Iran export to Kazakhstan was 238,700 tons valued $125 million, about 17,400 tons to Kyrgyzstan valued $31 million and 4,980 tons valued $14.9 million to Belarus," he said.

"Iran's import from EEU countries was 5.9 million tons valued at $1.8 billion that included 4.5 million tons valued at $1.7 billion from Russia, about 524,260 tons of commodities worth $142,7 million from Kazakhstan, and importing 10,179 tons of goods worth $25 million from Belarus, and 1,980 tons from Kyrgyzstan valued $2 million," he said.

"Iran major imports were basic commodities including livestock, vegetable oil and seeds, production machinery," he said.
