The number of Internet users in the Mary region of Turkmenistan has increased 4 times over the past three years, currently, it is used in the region by about 50,000 subscribers, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan: Golden Age electronic newspaper.
The new Internet prices, which have become more attractive, will undoubtedly increase the demand for Internet services for both private users and organizations in the Mary region.
The communications specialists of Turkmenistan’s Mary telecom telecommunications company believe that the reduction of tariffs for internet use, which took place recently, will require adjustments to further plans to increase the capacity of communication equipment.
In addition, it is noted that Mary telecom participates in international projects.
They laid an eight-kilometer fiber-optic communication line from Serhetabat (Mary region of Turkmenistan) to the Afghan city of Torghundi and installed communication equipment with a traffic of 100 Gbps.
The above-mentioned fiber-optic communication line and installed communication equipment will increase the transit network traffic through our country to Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as the speed of information transfer between the countries of Europe and Asia.
As reported, Turkmenistan reduced tariffs for use of the Internet traffic on ADSL technology and unlimited Internet through ADSL, VDSL, and hire a dedicated info channel.
Reduced tariffs are provided separately for the population of cities, for the rural population in districts, for state-owned enterprises and organizations, private entrepreneurs, non-state legal entities without foreign investors (business companies, individual enterprises, etc.), and for scientific and educational institutions of Turkmenistan.
On average, prices are reduced from 22 to 52 percent, the report said.
Internet services in Turkmenistan are provided by Turkmentelecom and AGTS.
Currently, the sphere of communications and telecommunications is rapidly becoming one of the most promising and dynamically developing sectors of the national economy.
Thus, the decree of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved seven priority areas for the development of domestic science, including communications, especially in the field of development of modern communication technologies and production automation.
