The volume of business sector turnover increased by 2.1 percent in the 4 quarter of 2020 compared to the same quarter of the previous year and amounted to 32 billion lari ($9.6 billion) in Georgia, Trend reports citing Georgian National Statistics Service (Geostat).

The production value of the business sector is characterized by a decreasing tendency. In the 4 quarter of 2020, its volume equaled 12.4 billion lari ($3.7 billion), which is year-on-year 7.3 percent less.

In the reported period, 60.9 percent of total turnover comes on large and 17.1 percent – on medium businesses while 22 percent is distributed to small businesses.

A small difference is in the case of total production value: 40.6 percent comes on large, 27.8 percent – on medium and 31.7 percent on small businesses.

In 4 quarter of 2020, total purchases of goods and services carried out by enterprises equaled 18 billion lari ($5.4 billion), while the purchase of goods and services for resale amounted to 11 billion lari ($3.3 billion).

The average number of employees equaled 641,600, which is year-on-year 10.1 percent less. Out of the total number of employees, 41.1 percent are female and 58.9 percent are male.

Some 41.2 percent of a total number of employees comes on large, 22.8 percent – on medium and 36 percent - on small businesses. The total number of employed persons amounted to 609,000 (year-on-year 9.6 percent less). The total personnel costs of enterprises equaled 2.63 billion lari ($793.3 million).

In the 4 quarter of 2020, the average monthly remuneration of employed persons equaled 1,417 lari ($427.43) while remuneration of employed women made up 1,070.1 lari ($322.79).

The average monthly remuneration of employed persons by the size of enterprises is as follows:

⦁ Large business – 1,439.6 lari ($434.25)
⦁ Medium business – 1,632.6 lari ($492.46)
⦁ Small business – 1,228.4 lari ($370.54).
