Iran unveils number of mining facilities put into operation

Some of 30 facilities in the mining sector of Iran have been put into operation since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) and some are ready for operation, Deputy Chairman of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) Amir Khorramishad said, Trend reports citing the organization website.

According to Khorramishad, a total of about $3.64 billion has been spent on these facilities.

The deputy chairman added that about 25,000 people will be employed with the launch of these facilities.

“The examples of these facilities are the Sangan mine on the production of 2.5 million tons of pellets, the Khorasan Steel Plant on the production of 5 million tons of iron ore, the Khatunabad copper plant for the production of 120,000 tons of anode copper, and others,” he said.

Khorramishad noted that if the necessary conditions are created, 8 more facilities can be put into operation in the current month (February 19 through March 20, 2021). About $570 million was spent on these facilities. About 3,000 people will be employed with the launch of the facilities.
