Azerbaijan's export to France lowers in value terms from early 2021

The export of goods from Azerbaijan to France amounted to $46,000 in January 2021, while in the same month of 2020 - $40.61 million, Trend reports with reference to the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

According to the bulletin, in the reporting month the import of products from France to Azerbaijan on an annualized basis decreased from $13.5 million to $10.1 million.

The share of France in Azerbaijan's total import made up 1.29 percent of the total volume compared to 1.88 percent in January last year.

The volume of foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and France amounted to $10.2 million.

Thus, the balance of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and France remained negative over the reporting month, making up $10.1 million.

The legal entities and individuals in Azerbaijan conducted trade operations with partners from 183 countries in 2020.

The products have been exported to 111 countries and imported from 172 countries.

The country's foreign trade turnover in 2020 amounted to $24.2 billion (taking into account the statistics value of crude oil and natural gas exported by customs structures, but customs clearance of which has not been fully completed), including $13.4 billion in export and $10.7 billion in import. As a result, the trade surplus amounted to almost $2.7 billion.

The foreign trade turnover in real prices decreased by 26.8 percent, in real terms - by 21.9 percent, import - by 36 percent and export - by 12 percent compared to 2019.

A joint webinar was held in May 2020 at the initiative of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), the French Organization of Entrepreneurs (MEDEF) and the Azerbaijan-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the French Total oil company are cooperating. It is planned to implement such projects as exploration and development of the block of offshore ‘Umid’ and ‘Babek’ fields .
