BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 10

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia has already achieved significant successes in the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Lithuania told Trend.

As the ministry said, active engagement with Eastern partners is among the top priorities of Lithuania's foreign policy.

"We advocate for a greater role of the EU in South Caucasus which would be mutually beneficial. Eastern Partnership initiative is a strategic and long-term policy that serves this goal. We are working together in order to strengthen the political association and economic integration of Georgia with the EU," the ministry said.

According to the source, the signing of the Georgia-EU Association Agreement with its deep and comprehensive free trade area (DFTCA) was a major accomplishment for Georgia that provides both Lithuania's and Georgia's businesses with better opportunities for cooperation.

As the ministry noted, Lithuania and Georgia maintain a high-level political dialogue that contributes to the implementation of this Agreement.

"Together we intend to achieve Georgia's gradual integration into the EU Internal Market as this would further improve the business environment in Georgia and boost its economic ties with the EU Member States, including Lithuania," the source noted.
