Kazakhstan boosts agriculture output as investments value surges

The volume of gross output in Kazakhstan’s agriculture increased by 3.1 percent over first two months of 2021 year-on-year and amounted to 345.5 billion tenge ($823.5 million), Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov said, Trend reports citing the press office of the government.

This increase in output was mainly due to the increase in production volumes in animal husbandry by 3.3 percent, the minister said.

Thus, a high growth rate of meat production in live weight was noted at 5.9 percent, milk - at 3.4 percent. At the same time, crop production amounted to 20.6 billion tenge ($49.1 million), which is nearly the same as during the same period last year.

The largest increase in crop production was observed in Akmola region by 18.3 percent, and Karaganda by 4.1 percent.

Production of food products for the specified period increased by 3.1 percent and amounted to 309.7 billion tenge ($738.2 million).

"At the same time, the production of butter increased by 34.6 percent, beet sugar by 26.8 percent, vegetable oil by 24.5 percent, cereals by 21.5 percent, processed rice by 15.7 percent, cheese by 7.3 percent, processed milk by 5.9 percent, flour by 5.4 percent, sausage products by 2.6 percent,” Omarov said.

He added that the volume of investments in the fixed capital of agriculture increased by 39.6 percent and amounted to 41.5 billion tenge ($98.9 million), whereas investments in the production of food products increased by three times and amounted to 18.3 billion tenge ($43.6 million).
