Kazakhstan reports decrease in oil extraction year-on-year

The volume of oil extraction in Kazakhstan amounted to 13.8 million tons over the first two months of 2021, which is 11.6 percent less than during the same months of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

Industrial manufacturing in the country decreased by 1.9 percent compared to the reporting period of 2020.

Thus, the manufacturing of copper ore amounted to 20.8 million tons, which is 10.7 percent more compared to the reporting month of 2020. Manufacturing of petrol amounted to 0.8 million tons (decrease by 4.1 percent).

Manufacturing of Portland cement was 1.2 million tons, which is 35.3 percent more than during the same period of 2020. Manufacturing of flat metal was 0.4 million tons (increase by 24.1 percent), of gasoil to 0.7 million tons (decrease by 5.7 percent), of electricity to 20.6 billion kWh (increase by 1.5 percent).

The committee said that during the reporting period of 2021 the production of crude oil, natural gas, metal ores, as well as the production of beverages and oil products reduced year-on-year.

“The volume of production of food products, tobacco and wood products, chemical industry, pharmaceutical products, metallurgical industry, and machine building has increased,” the report said.
