Georgia sees increase in Domestic Producer Price Index for Industrial Products

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 19

The Domestic Producer Price Index for Industrial Products (DPPI) increased by 1.4 percent in February 2021 compared to the previous month in Georgia, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the mentioned period the prices for manufactured products were 1.5 percent higher.

Compared to February 2020 the DPPI increased by 17.4 percent.

The prices went up for manufactured products by 16.3 percent, for products from electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning by 23 percent, for products from mining and quarrying by 11.9 percent and for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services by 7.5 percent.

Georgia exported locally produced goods worth $494.7 million from January through February 2021, which is 6.8 percent lower year-on-year

The share of domestic exports (export of locally produced goods and services, including those of foreign origin that have been substantially changed through local processing) in total exports constituted 74.6 percent and amounted to $369 million, 7.9 percent higher to the same period of 2020.

The top trading partners were:

- Russia ($64.9 million)
- China ($50.9 million)
- Turkey ($43.6 million)
