Foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan, India almost quadrupled

The value of export of Azerbaijani goods to India surged 4.4 times from January through February 2021, increasing year on year from $48.7 million to $218.5 million, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

As reported, the share of India in the total export of Azerbaijan also increased - from 1.5 to 7.8 percent of the total exports.

The volume of foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and India exceeded $241.3 million, having risen 3.5 times year on year, according to the bulletin.

At the same time, imports from India to Azerbaijan made up over $22.8 million, while a year-earlier - $20.3 million (an increase of 12.3 percent).

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in the first 2 months of 2021 amounted to about $4.4 billion, which is 12.6 percent less compared to the same period of 2020.

The pharmaceutical sector of India has been created in Azerbaijan, and many Indian pharmaceutical companies operate here. India's imports include clothing and textiles, information technology, food and heavy equipment, electronic cards, steam boilers and other business equipment. In particular, crude oil is exported to India from Azerbaijan.
