Deposits value down in Kazakhstan's deposit organizations

The volume of deposits in Kazakhstan’s deposit organizations amounted to 22.5 trillion tenge ($53.1 billion) in Feb. 2021, which is 0.6 percent less compared to Jan. 2021, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.

Deposits of legal persons decreased in value by 4.9 percent to 11.3 trillion tenge ($26.7 billion), whereas deposits of physical persons increased by 4.3 percent to 11.1 trillion tenge ($26.3 billion).

In turn, the value of deposits denominated in the national currency (tenge) increased by 0.8 percent in a month to 14.3 trillion tenge ($33.9 billion), whereas the value of deposits denominated in foreign currency decreased by 3 percent to 8.1 trillion tenge ($19.2 billion).

The deposits dollarization level stood at 36.2 percent in Feb. 2021 compared to 37.3 in Dec. 2020.

Tenge denominated deposits of legal entities decreased by 5.4 percent in Feb. 2021 and have amounted to 7.3 trillion tenge ($17.2 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of legal entities increased by 4 percent to 4.05 trillion tenge ($9.5 billion).

Meanwhile, tenge denominated deposits of physical entities increased by 8.2 percent to 7.08 trillion tenge ($16.6 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of physical entities decreased by 1.9 percent to 4.1 trillion tenge ($9.6 billion).

The value of time deposits amounted to 15.6 trillion tenge ($36.8 billion), having decreased by 1.4 percent in Feb. 2021 compared to Jan. 2021.

The weighted average remuneration rate on time deposits of non-bank legal entities in tenge amounted to 7.2 percent in Feb. 2021 compared to 7.1 percent in Feb. 2020, whereas the weighted average remuneration rate on deposits of physical entities was 8.9 percent compared to 8.9 percent in Feb. 2020.
