Employment in Iran’s industry sector grows – deputy minister

The employment in the industry sector of Iran increased by 23.3 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Saeed Zarandi said, Trend reports citing the IRNA.

He made the remark in a meeting of the Iran’s Public-Private Dialogue Council held in Lorestan Province (the western Iran).

Zarandi stressed that 142,000 people were employed in Iran's industry sector in the last Iranian year.

The deputy minister added that licenses were issued for exploration of 1,000 mines in the mining sector in last year. This is an increase of 6.3 percent compared to the preceding year.

According to him, a total of 55 million tons of petrochemicals were produced in Iran last year. This is an increase of 9.4 percent compared to the preceding year.

Zarandi also said that at the same time, aluminum ingots production increased by 54 percent, steel production – by 7.6 percent, automobile production – by 18 percent and cement production – by 12.5 percent in the last Iranian year, compared to the preceding year.
