Azerbaijan records surplus in 2020 foreign trade turnover

Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover in 2020 made up $22.7 billion, Trend reports on Mar.31 citing the reporting data of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the data, the country's oil and gas sector has a surplus of $8.9 billion and a deficit of $6.4 billion in the non-oil sector.

"Eventually, a surplus of $2.5 billion was formed in Azerbaijan's foreign trade balance," the report reads.

Last year, Azerbaijan had trade relations with 183 countries of the world. Some 16.8 percent of the foreign trade operations were carried out with the CIS member states, and 83.2 percent - with other foreign countries," said the CBA report.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover amounted to nearly $4.4 billion in the first two months of 2021, which is 12.6 percent less compared to the same period of 2020.
