Iran expecting IMF's response to its request for loan

TEHRAN, Iran, Apr.2

Trend:

It is expected that the International Monetary Fund would immediately respond to Iran's legal request without discrimination and influences created by political lobbies, said the Governor of Central Bank of Iran.

"So far the International Monetary Fund has given more than $100 billion loans to 85 countries, it has offered $16 billion loans to countries in MENAP region, Iran was among the first countries that requested emergency loan, yet so far no advances have been offered (by the IMF)," said Abdolnaser Hemmati, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"This is a clear violation of the IMF targets, we expect the IMF to respond to Iran's request as soon as possible without discrimination. The economy of countries and especially developing countries were intensely hurt by the Coronavirus outbreak and Iran was one of the countries that faced most damages from this disease in the region," he said.

From April 2013, the International Monetary Fund started using a new analytical region called MENAP (Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan).
