Turkey, Brazil and US remain main exporters of poultry meat to Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7

Some 55,539.8 tons of fresh, chilled and frozen poultry meat in the amount of $62.2 million were imported to Georgia in 2020, Trend reports citing Georgian National Statistics Service (Geostat).

According to Geostat, in 2020 Georgia spent 4.5 percent less money for imports of poultry meat ($65.1 million in 2019), compared to the previous year, but the volume of imported products increased by 5.4 percent.

In 2020, most of the poultry meat was imported from Turkey, Brazil and the United States.

TOP-10 countries, which exported poultry meat to Georgia:

1. Turkey - $15.0 million (13,375 tons);
2. Brazil - $12.2 million (9 802 tons);
3. US - $6.2 million (8,138 tons);
4. Germany - $6 million (5,284 tons);
5. Ukraine - $5.2 million (5,356 tons);
6. China - $4 million (1,929 tons);
7. Netherlands - $3.6 million (3,168 tons);
8. France - $2.7 million (2,291 tons);
9. Lithuania - $1.5 million (1,357 tons);
10. Denmark - $1.4 million (1,262 tons).
