By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The Georgian company Inert Materials Complex is investing about 1 million lari ($292,801) in the extraction of sand and gravel materials, Trend reports via Georgian media.

The investment will take place in 2021.

Within the framework of the state program “100 investment proposals”, the company acquired a 3-hectare open pit in Terjola District, Imereti Region.

The company cooperates with a Chinese highway construction company in Georgia.

According to the director of the company Levan Svanidze, about 3 million lari ($878,405) have already been invested in mining and transportation.

“We have signed contractual agreements with Chinese companies building highways in Georgia. I believe that after the completion of this project, we will have new contracts because the development of the economy requires the implementation of many other similar projects. In addition, our products are needed in all spheres of development, including in the construction of roads,” Svanidze said.

The company employs 25 citizens, mostly local residents. According to Svanidze, the company plans to expand the business and hire 15 additional people.
