Transit of goods through Iran declines

The transit of goods through Iran decreased by 0.89 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration’s website.

According to Latifi, 7.53 million tons of goods were transited through Iran last Iranian year. This is only 67 tons less than the preceding year.

Latifi added that 6.73 million tons of goods were transited through 10 customs checkpoints of Iran. This accounted for more than 89 percent of total transit through Iran.

“So, 3.3 million tons of goods were transited through the Shahid Rajaee special zone customs in Iran's Hormozgan Province, 703,000 tons through the Bazargan customs in the West Azerbaijan Province, and 687,000 tons through the Bashmaq customs in the Kurdistan Province,” he said.

The spokesman noted that also, 457,000 tons of goods were transited through Sarakhs customs in Razavi Khorasan Province, 447,000 tons through Bandar Imam customs in Khuzestan Province, and 337,000 tons through Bilasuvar customs in Ardabil Province.

Moreover, 312,000 tons of goods were transited through Jolfa customs in East Azerbaijan Province, 188,000 tons through Razi customs in West Azerbaijan Province, 156,000 tons through Astara customs in Gilan Province, and 139,000 tons through Bandar Lengeh port in Hormozgan Province, Latifi stressed.
