China's 2M2021 import of Azerbaijani products surges in value

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13

The goods worth $113.1 million were exported from Azerbaijan to China in the first 2 months of 2021, which is a 70-percent growth year on year, Trend reports on April 13 referring to the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

According to the bulletin, the share of China in Azerbaijan's total export volume over the reporting period made up 4.06 percent compared to 2.04 percent in 2M2020.

Meanwhile, the value of import of Chinese products by Azerbaijan on an annualized basis made up $203.8 million against $262.75 million recorded a year earlier (down 22.4 percent). The share of China in Azerbaijan's total imports amounted to 12.64 percent of the total volume against 14.7 percent in the first 2 months of last year.

The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $316.9 million, which is $12.14 million, or 3.7 percent, less than from January through February 2020.

Thus, the foreign trade balance of Azerbaijan and China remained negative in the reporting period and stood at $90.7 million.

Azerbaijan's total foreign trade turnover in 2M2021 amounted to $4.4 billion ($2.79 billion or 63.36 percent fell on export, and $1.6 billion or 36.64 percent – on import).
