Czech Republic plans to increase volume of mutual trade with Turkmenistan

Czech Republic would like to reach a mutual trade volume of $10 million with Turkmenistan in 2021, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic told Trend.

As for 2020, the ministry said that from January through December 2020, Czech exports reached a volume of $8.5 million, while imports from Turkmenistan were $192,000.

“The main Czech exports are medical instruments (11.9 percent), weapons and ammunition (11.4 percent), alcohol (10.8 percent) and measuring instruments (6.2 percent),” clarified the ministry.

In addition MFA noted that only two commodities dominate among imports to the Czech Republic: textile yarns (40.7 percent) and finished textile products (31 percent).

In terms of cooperation with Turkmenistan, the ministry said the Czech Republic has long been involved in development assistance within the UN and the EU in the CADAP (anti-drug) and BOMCA (border management support) programmes, which are very important for Turkmenistan.

Earlier, Turkmenistan and the Czech Republic named such areas as trade, industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, high technologies and the use of alternative energy sources, investment activities among the promising areas of partnership.
