BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

New tourist infrastructure is being built in Georgia near an artificial lake in Akhaltsikhe (Samtskhe-Javakheti region), Trend reports via the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

The construction is financed from the fund of projects to be implemented in the regions and from the local budget. The project cost is 1.8 million lari (approximately $526,000).

As part of the project, a road to the lake will be built, parking, sports grounds, squares, children's entertainment attractions, bicycle and walking paths, outdoor lighting and other necessary infrastructure will be arranged.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, infrastructure work in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region continues unimpeded. This year, there are plans to implement projects worth 19 million lari ($5.5 million), which will be financed from the fund for projects that will be implemented in the regions.

"It is important that the projects are diverse and include the restoration and construction of roads, gardens, schools, squares, sports grounds and water supply systems. All projects are adapted to the needs of the region," First Deputy Infrastructure Ministry Ilia Begiashvili said after reviewing the work in Akhaltsikhe.

In 2021, the fund's budget for implementing projects in the regions will amount to 280 million lari (approximately $82 million).
