Georgia sees increase in hotel price index for March 2021

The hotel price index increased by 7.1 percent in March 2021 in Georgia compared to February 2021, Trend reports via the Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG).

The 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star hotel price index increased by 6.9 percent, while for guesthouses, the price index increased by 3.4 percent.

"Due to the abnormal impact of COVID-19 pandemic on 2020 prices, we will use 2019 as the comparison year for the hotel price index for the rest of 2021," the PMCG said.

In March 2021, compared to March 2019, hotel prices in Georgia decreased by 8.1 percent. The prices of 3*, 4*, 5* hotels decreased by 9.7 percent, while the prices of guesthouses decreased by 10.7 percent. Compared to March 2020, the hotel price index increased by 8.1 percent.

In Georgia, the average cost of a room in a 3-star hotel was 124 lari ($36.12) per night in March 2021, while the average cost of a room in a 4-star hotel in Georgia was 219 lari ($63.79) per night, and the average cost of a room in a guesthouse was 80 lari ($23.30) per night.

The average cost of a room in a 5-star hotel in Georgia in March 2021 was 332 lari ($96.70) per night. In Guria, the average price was 587 lari ($170.98), followed by Tbilisi at 436 lari ($127), Adjara at 295 lari ($85.93), and Kakheti at 293 lari ($85.34).
